Players In The NBA 2K Community Are Honoring Kobe Bryant Too

The NBA2K community can be one of the most toxic game communities currently. I should know first hand as I was an avid NBA 2K fan going back to it's original release on the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. This week however, the community came together in a show of solidarity and mourning for the great Laker, Kobe Bryant. I continuously purchased NBA 2K each year like it was some form of unnecessary yearly membership. With the introduction of on the online game mode called My Career. Players have been able to create, build, and improve their players by playing offline and online modes. Players can also join up using these created players in various online modes to play against one another like the Rec Center, The Neighborhood, or Pro-AM.
Kobe Bryant's untimely death has impacted the entire world which has led to many responses of remembrance within the 2K community. The trend for the NBA in honoring Kobe has involved teams that win the tip-off to begin games purposely incurring an 8 second violation. With the change of possession, the opposing team would incur a 24 second shot clock violation which in turn gives possession back to the original team. The numbers 8 and 24 are symbolic for the numbers he wore as a player
Some players have actually been reenacting this in the various online game modes within NBA 2K20. Players have been sharing these acts of respect by posting to the game's official Reddit page r/NBA2K.
Even in the Neighborhood (social area with basketball courts) had images in honor of Kobe.

On Monday many players were representing with Kobe jersey's and/or Laker's Swag.

Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26th, 2020.
